Today in American culture class we discussed a unique form of America music: Jazz.

     Especially we talk about:

     Norah Jones.
She was able to attend good school and colleges; she became very successful and famous.
Her parents are very important musician and a dancer.
Norah Jones’s first album call “Come away with me” she has performed concerts in cities all over the world.

Jones took piano lessons as a child and studied jazz piano at the University of North Texas.  She has a very little formal training as a singer and learned her way if singing from listening to musicians.
Her music performance style and abilities are very similar with the other famous singer Billie Holiday.  Jones also sings some faster pop songs and is a good songwriter.

Billie Holiday

Was born in 1915 and had a very difficult life, she was very poor until she became a successful singer.
She had many hit records, performed concerts at famous venues like Carnegie Hall in New York.

She had no musical training; she learned from musicians around her and invented her own unique style of singing.
She just sang jazz songs, also was a songwriters.
Holyday’s voice is very unusual and beautiful, which is why she is known as one of the best jazz singers ever.

AMERICAN CULTURE CLASS, 20th century American art.

Today in American culture class we studied Louse Nevelson and Jackson Pollock, personally I like Jackson Pollock the best.

In my opinion and knowledge I like this artist from Cody, Wyoming; Jackson Pollock, the he is known as influential American painter and mayor figure in the abstract expressionist movement.

It is a style of drip painting, very famous of the world and I considerer with a special technique for show us what is his principal thinking and inspiration.
Pollock’s immediate legacy was certainly felt most by other painters; his work brought together elements of cubism, surrealism and impressionism.

The other hands I considerer the art in the life is like, the poem in the book, everything than you think, and feel, is special and you can show to everybody what is that and how big is in the own experience, is connection between feel, experience and dreams.

Finally I think Jackson’s paintings are everything than anybody can imagine. I enjoy all the 20th century American art we saw today but for me Jackson Pollock was the best.

DEBATE IN AMERICAN CULTURE CLASS

The class was organized with four groups, two for Romney and two for Obama and 4 judges.
In first the groups supported the principal candidate ideas in different way, like economy, education, immigration, oil, abortion, religion and new politics in USA

The idea to defend what each candidate wants about the different issues, and how the students in the debate can defend that, but with the unique intention to support the candidate’s ideas about it.

Every group did a great job, because they were correct about with the principal subject the candidate believe din such as the economy, immigration and abortion mainly.

Finally, I can say we understood what the politics situation in USA is and what the best ideas are for the presidential candidates here, and how they want to help for a better country for the Americans and immigrants who live in USA.

QUESTION

The debates are favorable for the candidates?

WHO IS JOHN?

I like this story because, I can see many different forms about racism.
It is not just in USA; also in all the world we have a different situations doing that, depend how is our culture and formations about it as well.

The problem in the story is racism, John who is a black man feel discrimination with neighborhood, and also with a police in sometimes, I have admiration to him because don't respond with a wrong behavior, he just feel angry, but keeps calm and silence.  Him is discriminated but his actions is to respect to the others, he does not responds them with a bad attitude.

To remember ....
we have around to the world discrimination about religion, thinking, ideology, gender, race.
