SEMESTER REFLECTION, AMERICAN CULTURE
FINAL THOUGHTS

In our American culture’s class we had the opportunity to know about three of the most important subjects such as American Art, American Jazz and the presidential election, among others.

All this three are important to me, because I considerer my self very fortune to know this big subject, about the Cultures and politics’ life in The United Stated, because many times people who are from different countries, like me, we think American cultures and everything here are strange or something like untouchable, Is good to clarify it is not for bad way, is most for ignorance about this spectacular form to life.

Through American art, I learned this beautiful music type where is that from, and how Afro people brings to this important and own American genre, American Jazz as well how is fundamental part in this culture; and the presidential election I learned more about how American people have a big reason to   decide for they own rulers also I discovered in this cultures is seriously, while the presidential election is about it, because everybody have responsible participation according to the American difficult time.

In conclusion, this American culture’s class help me to learn the immersion in this culture with everything than is part about it, and what, how and with who talk about specific subject.

American Culture
MY OWN SUPERHERO

First, I consider my superhero someone who makes many good things in they life, not just for they owns life if not for help to others.

The principal thing than I can see is the principal quality like faith, working with people and how they can helps others, in addition a superhero can be someone who teaches me, he needs to be friendly and also stays close to me; for instance than I can do the same thing and he can correct me immediately if I do any mistake.

My daddy, the Father Otto and Sister Theresa, they can be my super hero, because all have many qualities in common, like Faith, works, are smart and help people specifically.

Finally my super hero helps me in my life’s goals with they qualities and his example of life.

Today in American culture class we discussed a unique form of America music: Jazz.

     Especially we talk about:

     Norah Jones.
She was able to attend good school and colleges; she became very successful and famous.
Her parents are very important musician and a dancer.
Norah Jones’s first album call “Come away with me” she has performed concerts in cities all over the world.

Jones took piano lessons as a child and studied jazz piano at the University of North Texas.  She has a very little formal training as a singer and learned her way if singing from listening to musicians.
Her music performance style and abilities are very similar with the other famous singer Billie Holiday.  Jones also sings some faster pop songs and is a good songwriter.

Billie Holiday

Was born in 1915 and had a very difficult life, she was very poor until she became a successful singer.
She had many hit records, performed concerts at famous venues like Carnegie Hall in New York.

She had no musical training; she learned from musicians around her and invented her own unique style of singing.
She just sang jazz songs, also was a songwriters.
Holyday’s voice is very unusual and beautiful, which is why she is known as one of the best jazz singers ever.

AMERICAN CULTURE CLASS, 20th century American art.

Today in American culture class we studied Louse Nevelson and Jackson Pollock, personally I like Jackson Pollock the best.

In my opinion and knowledge I like this artist from Cody, Wyoming; Jackson Pollock, the he is known as influential American painter and mayor figure in the abstract expressionist movement.

It is a style of drip painting, very famous of the world and I considerer with a special technique for show us what is his principal thinking and inspiration.
Pollock’s immediate legacy was certainly felt most by other painters; his work brought together elements of cubism, surrealism and impressionism.

The other hands I considerer the art in the life is like, the poem in the book, everything than you think, and feel, is special and you can show to everybody what is that and how big is in the own experience, is connection between feel, experience and dreams.

Finally I think Jackson’s paintings are everything than anybody can imagine. I enjoy all the 20th century American art we saw today but for me Jackson Pollock was the best.
